Each application and project proposal is reviewed by an esteemed jury of experts in their field, including museum directors, curators, gallery owners, and artists. The quality of your work and the project proposal are the primary criteria for acceptance. Only complete applications will be reviewed and acceptance is determined based on jury approval.
All of our programming and correspondence is in English.
FEES AND INFORMATION
There is a monthly fee of $1,000.00 US Dollars.
This amount covers all housing, maintenance, administrative and gallery costs, and a membership to Port City Makerspace. Artists are responsible for food, transportation and work materials. Upon acceptance, a 50% deposit (of the entire stay) is required to secure your spot. We apologize that at this time, we are unable to offer financial assistance or project funding. A letter of acceptance can be requested to assist in obtaining grants and project funding. Residency deposits are nonrefundable.
Each applicant is responsible for acquiring the appropriate visas and passports to enter the United States. We encourage you to check ahead with your embassy or foreign affairs office for up-to-date information about traveling and staying in the United States.
Air travel should be booked to one of the following airports:
Portland International Jetport (PWM) – 35 minutes from S.I.A.R.
Manchester International Airport (MHT) – 1 hour from S.I.A.R.
Boston/Logan International Airport (BOS) – 1 hour from S.I.A.R.
We will assist you in arranging for airport transportation to and from the residency.
We strongly recommend purchasing medical/travel insurance before coming to stay with us. We are fortunate to have several excellent hospitals nearby, however, they require payment at the time of service.
Materials can be purchased locally at various art supply stores, or ordered and shipped from any online source.
